Tirion Homes Welcomes UK’s Housing Ministers

June 16, 2025

Tirion Homes, a not-for-profit provider of affordable homes, recently welcomed an inter-ministerial group (IMG) visit to The Mill in Cardiff to demonstrate how regeneration of a brownfield site can be delivered without grant to create a thriving community with a focus on affordable homes.

The IMG represents all four UK Governments – UK, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales – and the Tirion Homes team were joined by Alex Norris MP, Gordon Lyons MLA, Jayne Bryant MS and Paul McLellan MSP, all with housing and communities portfolios.

David Ward, Chief Executive of Tirion Homes commented, “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Ministers and their teams to The Mill. We are proud of the community that we have created in partnership with Welsh Government, Principality Building Society, M&G Investments and Lovell.

“It was great to highlight the effectiveness of our financing and delivery model and demonstrate what is possible through innovation in helping address the housing crisis across the UK.”

The success of The Mill showcased the success of this tenure blind community that brings together culturally diverse residents in a place that they are proud to call home.

Tirion Homes has developed The Mill over the last 10 years with the final handovers in late 2024.  The first phase of the Tirion estate commenced in 2018, funded by Principality Building Society, and delivered in partnership with Welsh Government, M&G Investments and Lovell.
