Tirion Homes recently welcomed Sir Chris Bryant MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy, to the Parc Eirin development in Tonyrefail to see first-hand the progress being made on this pioneering low-carbon housing scheme.

Tirion Homes White Paper

The visit provided an opportunity for the Minister to meet partners involved in the development and learn more about the innovative infrastructure being installed across the site. Parc Eirin is delivering a shared ground-source heat pump network alongside renewable technologies designed to provide residents with reliable, low-carbon heating and long-term energy efficiency.

Once completed, the development will include 225 homes powered by a shared ground loop heat network, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional gas heating while helping reduce carbon emissions and energy costs for residents.

During the visit, Sir Chris Bryant was able to see the progress being made on site, including the engineering works required to install the underground heat network infrastructure that will power the homes across the development.

Delivering Future-Ready Homes

Parc Eirin is being delivered through a partnership between Tirion Homes, Welsh Government, the Development Bank of Wales and Kensa to bring forward a new model of sustainable housing development.

The scheme demonstrates how innovative infrastructure, forward-thinking design and strong partnerships can deliver high-quality homes that respond to the challenges of climate change and energy affordability.

By integrating shared renewable energy systems into the design of the development, Parc Eirin is helping establish a new benchmark for sustainable residential communities in Wales.

Partnership at the Heart of Delivery

The visit also highlighted the importance of partnership in unlocking complex developments. Tirion Homes is working alongside a number of organisations across the housing, construction and energy sectors to deliver the project, combining expertise in housing development and renewable energy systems.

This collaborative approach reflects Tirion’s wider model of development, which focuses on innovative financing, long-term stewardship, mixed-tenure communities and sustainable housing solutions.

A Practical Approach to Increasing Housing Supply

Parc Eirin also reflects the broader themes explored in Tirion Homes’ recently published White Paper, Delivering More Homes in Wales: A Pragmatic, Scalable Approach, which examines how housing delivery can be accelerated while maintaining high standards of quality, sustainability and affordability.

The paper argues that meeting housing need will require a combination of innovative financing, diversified delivery models and stronger collaboration across the housing sector. Parc Eirin demonstrates how these principles can be applied in practice, combining modern energy infrastructure with long-term investment to deliver homes that are both sustainable and financially viable.

Looking Ahead

With construction progressing well, Parc Eirin will deliver a new community of energy-efficient homes designed for long-term sustainability and affordability.

The development reflects Tirion Homes’ ongoing commitment to working with partners to deliver innovative housing solutions that support communities, reduce environmental impact and increase the supply of high-quality homes across Wales.
